Gauges and Mounting Systems
The Pyrometer, Turbocharger Boost Pressure, and Transmission Temperature Gauges are three of the most popular gauges added to today's tow vehicles and motorhomes.
Pyrometer: A pyrometer is an exhaust temperature gauge that allows you to read an immediate change in exhaust temperature by receiving a temperature signal from a probe (thermocouple) that is inserted into the exhaust manifold or pipe. This constant monitoring of temperature changes alerts the driver to temperature problems well before indications would be received from a typical water temperature gauge. Vehicle operators use pyrometers to diagnose engine problems and drive more efficiently, prolonging engine life and reducing fuel consumption.

Turbo Boost Gauge: The Boost Gauge monitors your turbocharger pressure. This will allow you to know if all systems are in peek operating range. This can be a vital diagnostic tool when your vehicle has a drivability problem these two gauges will assist you in determining your problem.

Transmission Temperature Gauge: The Transmission Gauge is used to monitor the temperature of your transmission fluid. There are two typical mounting locations;
1). Sump Temperature: The temperature sending unit is mounted in the transmission pan. This allows you to monitor the fluid temperature prior to being pumped into the transmission.
2) Discharge Line: The sending unit is mounted in the transmission outlet line prior to going into any coolers. This mounting location will allow you to monitor the highest temperature your transmission is generating. These temperatures will usually be peak temperatures when climbing mountains. When starting to descend the temperature should drop quickly.
